Many professionals join organizations like ISSA for training, certifications, or technical knowledge, but the greatest long term value often comes from the relationships, leadership experiences, and opportunities built through active involvement and community engagement.

In this session, Roops Ramdon shares his 12 year journey through ISSA Hampton Roads and how professional organizations helped shape his leadership development, expand his professional network, and contribute to opportunities including enterprise Navy leadership roles and participation in the Department of Defense Executive Leadership Development Program (ELDP).

Learn how volunteering, mentorship, leadership roles, and intentional networking can accelerate your career, increase your professional influence, and help you grow into leadership positions both inside and outside the cybersecurity field.

This session will provide practical strategies professionals can use to build influence, gain leadership experience, develop mentors, and create long term career momentum through volunteer leadership and professional community involvement.

Speaker:
Roops Ramdon is an IT and cybersecurity professional with the Department of the Navy, where he supports enterprise C5ISR modernization, IT governance, and readiness initiatives. He has been actively involved with ISSA Hampton Roads for more than 12 years, serving in multiple leadership roles, including Chapter President.

Roops is also a graduate of the Department of Defense Executive Leadership Development Program (ELDP), where he expanded his leadership experience across the DoD, federal government, and international defense organizations. Beyond his professional career, he actively seeks leadership and community-building opportunities through organizations such as the Porsche Club of America.

He is passionate about professional development, mentorship, and helping others recognize how relationships, volunteer leadership, and professional organizations can expand both their careers and their sphere of influence.
