The ISM Teacher’s Lounge returns this summer for an engaging virtual discussion of Unearthing Joy: A Guide to Culturally Responsive Teaching and Learning by Gholdy Muhammad. Participants will explore this inspiring text and learn how to incorporate and strengthen the Five Pursuits outlined by Muhammad: Identity, Skills, Intellect, Criticality, and, especially, Joy! Participants will discuss the presence of Joy in the classroom, how to humanize pedagogy, and how to build Muhammad’s Five Pursuits into curriculum.
This free virtual event is open to all. Educators who participate may request a complimentary copy of the book and will receive 1 CPDU for attending and completing an evaluation.
