About this Event
Jon Wilks CMG has had a distinguished career as a diplomat with the UK FCDO and is widely acknowledged as a leading Arabist. Recently stepping down as our Ambassador to Qatar, he is now the Registrar and Azman Hashim Fellow in International Relations at the Oxford Centre for Islamic Studies. He is also a Distinguished Fellow at the Royal United Services Institute (RUSI).
Against a background of conflict and competition and issues concerning the integration of those with Muslim beliefs into Western Society, this is a timely opportunity to hear from Jon as he shares his views on the important role played by Islam both in the Middle East, Europe and Asia. The danger of open warfare between Israel and Iran and the future for Palestinians bring an urgency to this topic and suggest that the views of a leading expert are really worth hearing. His unique perspective, shaped by years of diplomatic service and research, will offer attendees a nuanced understanding of the intersection between Islam, geopolitics and the opportunities ahead.
Jon Wilks will speak to those attending and share their questions as they seek answers from him.
