Lookout Live has drafted the local Chattanooga performing arts creative dream team for the Spring 2025 production of THE HAUNTING OF LIN-MANUEL MIRANDA, a play in two-acts by Chattanooga-born, internationally-celebrated author Ishmael Reed.HAUNTING is a response piece to Miranda’s renowned Broadway musical, HAMILTON. Loosely structured on Dickens A CHRISTMAS CAROL, Lin-Manuel Miranda is haunted by spirits from the time of the musical’s eponymous forefather who set the record straight on the historical inaccuracies portrayed in his play: namely, refuting Miranda’s characterization of Hamilton as a progressive abolitionist and fighter for the freedoms of all mankind.
This production will mark the first-ever collaboration between local performing arts powerhouses, with these arts leaders combining their strengths with a unified passion for the importance of this piece: Chatt Festival of Black Arts & Ideas (Ric Morris, Co-director), Scenic City Shakespeare (Ryan Laskowski, Technical Director), and Next Exit Productions (Kashun Parks, Co-Director).
