About the Club:
"Is the Book Always Better?" is Hutchinson Public Library’s exciting new book and film club that meets quarterly to explore the relationship between books and their film adaptations. Each quarter, we dive into one book and its corresponding movie, examining how well the film captures the essence of the book and debating whether the book truly is better.
Our first Session:
For our debut event, we’re kicking things off with a chilling classic:
The Shining by Stephen King
Event Schedule:
Film Screening: October 30th at 5:15 PM
Join us for a special screening of the iconic film adaptation of The Shining right here at the library. Enjoy the suspense and terror as Jack Nicholson brings King’s novel to life on the big screen. We will provide the popcorn!
Discussion: November 6th at 6:00 PM
Dive into a thought-provoking discussion where we’ll dissect both the book and the film. Share your thoughts on how the film compares to the novel, explore the differences in interpretation, and decide: Is the book always better?
How to Participate:
Read the Book: Get your copy of The Shining from the library.
Watch the Film: Attend our film screening or view it on your own.
Join the Discussion: Come prepared to share your insights,
opinions, and enjoy a deep dive into one of Stephen King’s masterpieces and its cinematic adaptation.
Whether you're a fan of horror, a book aficionado, or just curious about adaptations, "Is the Book Always Better?" promises engaging conversations and a community of fellow enthusiasts.
We look forward to seeing you there!
