The Caribbean Cultural Center African Diaspora Institute (CCCADI), in collaboration with The Leonard Davis Center for the Performing Arts and the Hostos Center for the Arts & Culture, presents Violines Para Ochún, a newly commissioned work led by musical director and master percussionist Omo Aña Louis Bauzó.
Created as a musical tribute to the Orisha deity Ochún, the performance takes audiences on a journey from Osogbo, Nigeria, to the African Diaspora. The performance honors Yoruba spiritual traditions that endured despite the Transatlantic Slave Trade, featuring an intergenerational ensemble of elders, drummers, singers, dancers, and practitioners. This newly commissioned work celebrates the enduring power of a sacred tradition preserved and passed down across generations.
