About this Event

The IRS is hiring 225 Contact Representatives, also known as Customer Service Representatives, and 70 Tax Examining Technicians for the Kansas City, Missouri service center. During this in-person hiring event, we will be reviewing resumes and education transcripts (if applicable) and making job offers to qualified applicants on-the-spot.

About the positions:

Contact Representatives:

As a Contact Representative, you will provide over-the-phone technical assistance to individuals and businesses. You will apply the tax code while addressing a wide range of issues to assist taxpayers in understanding and meeting their tax responsibilities.

Tax Examining Technicians:

As a Tax Examining Technician, you will respond to taxpayer correspondence and other inquiries regarding a variety of tax returns, related schedules, and other documentation. This involves resolving taxpayer account issues and advising of enforcement actions.

These entry level positions do not require you to have prior tax experience. Our top-notch training programs will teach you everything you need to know to prepare you to be successful in these positions. For the Contact Representative positions, we will be offering full-time, permanent positions on day shifts and for the Tax Examining Technician positions, we will be offering full-time, seasonal positions on day and swing shifts. Full-time seasonal positions are typically offered on a 6-8 month season. If seasonal employees are released during the off season, they will be called back at the start of each new season and do not need to reapply.

While these positions are telework eligible, you will be required to report to your post of duty (POD) at least two (2) days per pay period. Employees are required to be within a 200-mile radius of their assigned POD while in a telework status. Telework eligibility does not guarantee telework; employees must meet and sustain IRS telework requirements and supervisor's approval to participate in the IRS Telework Program. Depending on the location, you may be required to report to the office for the duration of training, which varies based on the position.
