In a small New Jersey pub, across the train tracks from the back Saint Gertrude’s Catholic Cemetery, a disgraced cop and ex - beauty queen take shelter from a frigid storm, forming an unlikely bond one lonely Christmas Eve…. oh, and it’s also funny.

About the Playwright

Dubbed a “national treasure” by critics and honored with numerous awards and nominations, including the New York Drama Desk and New York Outer Critics Circle, Tom Dugan is a Los Angeles - based playwright best known for his meticulously researched historical one-person plays exploring iconic figures such as Jackie Kennedy, Robert E. Lee, and Mary Lincoln.

His acclaimed solo works have been translated into several languages and produced throughout the United States, Canada, Mexico, Israel, India, Australia, Italy, Scotland, and London.

Frederick Douglass: In the Shadow of Slavery, starring Broadway’s Mel Johnson, and Tevye in New York! continue to tour nationally, as does his most popular work, Wiesenthal, now available through Next Stage Press. Wiesenthal, the celebrated one-man play about famed Nazi hunter Simon Wiesenthal, was described by The New York Times as “heartbreaking and beautiful.” It was produced Off-Broadway by Daryl Roth and later featured on PBS. A feature-film adaptation of Wiesenthal, produced by Golden River Entertainment, is scheduled to begin shooting in Europe later this year.

Tom’s recent critical successes, Cemetery Pub and Irish Goodbye (available through Next Stage Press), premiered in Los Angeles at the Alliance Repertory Company and have since received regional productions. His upcoming dark comedy 13 Coffins, set to premiere in Los Angeles in 2027, will complete his Jersey Pub Trilogy. His one-woman psychological thriller, The Ghosts of Mary Lincoln - called “spellbinding” by the Los Angeles Times - will be published later this year.
