Heather Haley will present Irises in the Garden on Friday, July 12, 2024, from 10:00 to 12:00. At the Guilford County Extension office at 3309 Burlington Rd. Greensboro, NC 27406 Heather Haley is a third-generation iris grower and co-owner of the Broley Homestead, an iris farm in Ramseur North Carolina. Heather is the past president of the Eastern North Carolina Iris Society, managing editor of the World of Irises blog, and member of the American Iris Society Board of Directors.
The genus Iris offers many delightful options for the home garden. Whether you like bearded or beardless, native or hybrid, aril or arilbred; join us as we explore the relationship between iris growth cycles and common cultural practices. Eastern North Carolina Iris Society members will give a live demonstration, answer questions, and share tips and tricks for planting, digging, and dividing irises in the Piedmont.
Attendees will also receive a printed calendar as a gift from Heather. The calendar describes irises in 15 horticultural classifications, expected bloom times in North Carolina, and month-by-month recommendations to help irises thrive in your garden.
This free public event is a collaboration among the Extension Master Gardeners(SM) of Guilford County, the Eastern North Carolina Iris Society, and iris farm the Broley Homestead.
