Iris Reads: Stories and Brews

Stories & Brews is a cosy morning for anyone who loves good stories, warm drinks, and genuine human connection. Think of it as a low-key third space between home and work. Somewhere you can unplug, laugh, chat through big messy ideas, and hang out with folks who celebrate diverse perspectives and colourful life stories.

I’m hosting this because I wanted a space that feels soft, warm, and deeply welcoming to everyone-especially those of us with creative minds, alternative rhythms, and eclectic bookshelves.

Coming on your own? Most people are! There are no cliques, no forced public speaking, and zero pressure to be "profound."

The plan:

• 11:00 AM: Head upstairs, grab a brew or pastry, and get cosy.

• 11:20 AM: Fun table prompts to break the ice without any awkward small talk.

• 11:55 AM: Casual show-and-tell: bring a novel you love, a funny essay, a line from a poem, or a topic you've been chewing on lately (totally optional—listening is 100% allowed!)

• 12:45 PM – 1:30 PM: Easy chats, book browsing, and mingling.

Cost & Supporting the Venue: To keep our cosy mezzanine space filled and make sure everyone who signs up shows up, tickets are £4 and every single penny goes directly into funding warm brews and food at Paper Cup for local rough sleepers. You’re doing a good deed for the community just by grabbing a ticket :)
