|| STITCHING STORIES ||
This is a rare opportunity to experience the richness of traditional Indian textile art forms and is not to be missed by any cultural craft enthusiast.

As part of IOTA Festival 24, The ANJELMS Project are proud to weave together two traditional stitching communities from either end of rural India into the heart of Fremantle.
This exhibition will feature a collection of stitched artworks by artisans from The Stitching Project (Pushkar, India) and Porgai Artisans (Tamil Nadu, India). Accompanied by a series of events and workshops giving textile enthusiasts a rare opportunity to explore traditional Lambadi embroidery directly from the Porgai Artisans themselves.

The exhibition will showcase rare, antique Lambadi garments and artifacts (some of the last of their kind), this centuries-old craft will stand alongside more contemporary works by Porgai Artisans focussed on sharing story in the language of stitched patterns and motifs.
Running parallel, hand stitched and natural dyed quilts by The Stitching Project will compliment this collection, exploring the use of shape, colour and pattern; a labour of love of magnificent proportions.
