About this Event
Join us for the IOE Alumni Merit Presentation!
Each year, U-M Industrial and Operations Engineering recognizes an alum who personifies the College of Engineering’s tradition of excellence. This year, we are honoring Marcial Lapp, B.S. ’05, M.S.’07, M.S.E.’09, M.B.A.’12, Ph.D. ’12.

Marcial Lapp is the Vice President of Revenue Engineering at American Airlines, where he leads the teams responsible for the systems, data, and business processes that power the airline's Commercial organization, primarily Revenue Management.
His organization oversees a wide range of disciplines--yield management and pricing, revenue integrity, passenger automation, distribution technology, product delivery, airline partner connectivity, and network‑level forecasting paired with fleet assignment. Marcial's team focuses on applying advanced algorithms, data, and technology to solve complex challenges across Revenue Management and the broader Commercial team.
Marcial joined American Airlines in 2010 as an intern, developing the optimizer for the airline's overbooking system. He went on to serve as Chief Scientist for Revenue Management, lead several domestic markets, manage the Mexico, Caribbean & Latin America region, and later head the Operations Research and Data Science group, where he oversaw the technical implementation of key revenue‑driving systems.
He holds a Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering and an MBA from the University of Michigan. Marcial lives in Arlington, Texas, with his wife, Allysen, their sons, Otto (8) and Marlo (4) and twin-girls Layla (1) and Leni (1).
