Io Capitano: Public Film Screening

The Academy Award-nominated film “Io Capitano” by Matteo Garrone follows two Senegalese teenage cousins, Seydou and Moussa, traveling from West Africa to Italy in search of a better future. Their journey is filled with dangerous checkpoints: the blistering heat of the Sahara, North African prisons, and the open Mediterranean, where thousands of migrants have lost their lives.

On Nov. 21, the Women’s Rights, Human Rights, and Refugees Program will host a public screening of the film “Io Capitano.” Before the showing, fellow Kelsey Norman will provide welcome remarks to frame the topic.
