Welcome to Cinema Queers opening 2022!We open the festival with the Egyptian Shall I Compare You to a Summer's Day?, a polyamorous, queer musical that mixes animated folktales with Egyptian pop music. The film has been praised internationally but not received as warmly at home, where forces partly banned the film from being shown. As a tribute to the director Mohammed Shawky Hassan and the freedom of the press and expression, we host at Dagens Nyheter's old printing press hall. In true Cinema Queer spirit, this historic venue is transformed into the queer underworld we all dream of! As MC you will see none other than Jafar The Superstar, we promise an evening lined with surprises!

Välkommen till Cinema Queers invigning 2022!
Vi öppnar festivalen med den Egyptiska Shall I Compare You to a Summer's Day?, en polyamorös, queer musikal som blandar animerade folksagor med egyptisk popmusik. Filmen har hyllats internationellt men inte tagits emot lika varmt på hemmaplan där krafter dels förbjudit att filmen visas. Som en hyllning till regissören Mohammed Shawky Hassan, tryck- och yttrandefriheten gästar vi dagen till ära Dagens Nyheters gamla tryckpresshall. I sann Cinema Queer-anda förvandlas denna historiska plats till den queera undre värld vi alla drömmer om! Som konferencier ser ni ingen mindre än Jafar The Superstar, vi utlovar en kväll kantad med överraskningar!
