Investing in the Dream Banquet- PODER

Providing Opportunities, Dreams and Education in Riverside (PODER) at UC Riverside will be hosting their 11th annual fundraising event, "Investing in the Dream' Banquet on Friday, May 17th, 2024 at UC Riverside. The event is scheduled to take place in the Higlander Union Building Banquet Room (355) from 7:00pm-10:00pm, with tickets priced at $30.00 for general admission. Doors will open at 7:00pm.

PODER is a student led organization dedicated to disseminating information, developing resources, and providing a support network for undocumented students who are pursuing higher education. Throughout the years we have committed ourselves to providing information and resources to the Riverside community and UCR campus.

Although the CA DREAM Act is an immense assistance to some undocumented students, a large gap of needed resources still exist. Even with rewnewals of Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, undocumented students do not qualify for federal aid such as Pell grants, federal loans, and works study. Therefore, many undocumented students find it challenging to continue with their education. Therefore, PODER is continuing their effort to raise scholarship funds for undocumented students. All of the proceeds from the banquet directly go towards scholarships for undocumented students that not only excel academiccaly, but that demonstrate community service/involvement, and financial need.
