About this Event

Natural Environment's Biosecurity Team are looking for volunteers to help with the hands-on removal of the invasive plant 'purple dewplant' from the five mile road. Purple dew plant (Disphyma crassifolium) outcompetes native plants and creates thick mats of vegetation that now covers areas above the sea wall on the five mile road. Volunteers will hand pull purple dewplant to create open areas that will allow space for native plants to re-establish.

Please wear appropriate clothing suitable for outdoor activities. If you have gardening gloves, bring them along; otherwise colleagues from the Natural Environment directorate will additional gloves and other necessary equipment.

Public toilets and refreshments are available at El tico or The Line up but please also bring plenty of water and a snack if you wish. There will be a chance to grab a refreshment at El Tico after the morning of hard work.

Please meet in the southern end of Le Port carpark (the gravel immediately north of El Tico).
