Invasive Plant Removal at the Santa Margarita River Trail Preserve
Schedule
Sat Mar 22 2025 at 09:00 am to 12:00 pm
Location
Santa Margarita River Trail Preserve | Fallbrook, CA

About this Event
Volunteers will meet TWC staff at the Fallbrook public library between 8:45 am and 9:00 am to complete liability waivers, meet other volunteers, and be breifed on the secondary meeting and parking location by Preserve Rangers. Participants will then organize into carpool and follow the Ranger to an access point to enter the Preserve.
From the Preserve access point, volunteers and staff will head out onto the higher sections of the "Blue trail" (Santa Margarita River Trail North) equipped with the tools, gloves and knowledge provided by staff to assist in the removal of the invasive Russian Thistle, most commonly known as tumble-weeds.
This time of year, the plant is still small and has not yet developed hardened spines, making this an ideal time to attack!
Find a helpful website overview of the plant below.

Make sure to bring water, sun protection and appropriate footwear for a relatively steep hike and work-day.
We look forward to working with and seeing you all!
