Invasion: Christmas Carol 2026
About this Event
The critically acclaimed holiday comedy is back. Invasion: Christmas Carol returns to The Assembly Theatre this December, produced by Knifefight Theatre.

NEXT Magazine
“A Christmas Carol like you’ve never seen it before.”
Glenn Sumi, So Sumi
It starts as A Christmas Carol.
Six actors take on Dickens’ classic tale of Ebenezer Scrooge, the Cratchits, Marley and the spirits. Then, about five minutes into the show, someone who absolutely does not belong in A Christmas Carol walks through the door.
Meet the Invader.
Each night, a special guest joins the show as a character of their own creation, drawn from pop culture, history, imagination, or somewhere considerably stranger. The cast has no idea who the Invader is playing until they appear onstage.
From there, anything can happen.
The Invader’s job is to disrupt the story. The cast’s job is to embrace everything thrown at them while somehow keeping Dickens’ A Christmas Carol alive and hurtling towards redemption.
The result is part scripted theatre, part live improvisation, and a completely different show every night.
Jamie Cavanagh returns as Ebenezer Scrooge, leading the company through the chaos.
SPECIAL GUEST NIGHTS
This year, two very special Invaders will be announced in advance:
ANDREW PHUNG
Kim’s Convenience, Run the Burbs

On these nights, you’ll know who is invading.
You still won’t know who they’re playing until they walk onstage.
For every other performance, both the Invader and their character remain a complete surprise, with guests drawn from some of Toronto’s funniest and most fearless performers.
No two performances are the same. Come back another night and watch a completely different story unfold.
