About this Event
ITMAT Education, Biomedical Graduate Studies (BGS), Biomedical Postdoctoral Programs (BPP), and the Medical Scientist Training Program (MSTP) have partnered to offer mentor training opportunities.
This highly interactive training is based upon a proven-effective curricula, designed to raise awareness and provide strategies for effective mentoring relationships, and meets BGS, MSTP and NIH T32 requirements for mentorship training.
Eligible Participants
• PSOM Faculty at the Assistant Professor or higher appointment
• Actively mentoring research trainees (postdocs, graduate students) or planning to mentor
Note: This is Mentoring 101 - covering the following areas:
Effective Communication
Supporting Belonging & Self-Efficacy
Giving Wise Feedback and considering Stereotype Threat
Aligning Expectations for mentors and mentees
The session is geared towards faculty who have no prior training, have not attended a session offered by this group in the past, or faculty looking for a refresher. A new focus topic will be offered in Spring 2025 for faculty who have completed this training or a similar session in past.
