Carve your own wooden spoon at Fairfields Heritage House. Led by Martin Thornell from Ottawa City Woodshop, participants will learn how to select appropriate tools, read the grain, carve out the bowl, shape the handle, and finish their piece. This workshop is the perfect opportunity to pick up a new hobby while enjoying a unique heritage setting. All skill levels, including beginners, are welcome. Prior comfort in using hand tools is recommended but not required. All supplies are included in the cost of registration; light refreshments will be served.
Sunday, August 17 from 1 pm to 5 pm

- This program is delivered in English.
- This program takes place outdoors under an open-sided tent. Please check weather conditions and dress appropriately for conditions. Sunscreen and bug spray are recommended.

- In the event of inclement weather, the program will be moved indoors to the community room. The community room is located on the second floor of the heritage house and is accessible by stairs only.

Sculptez votre propre cuiller en bois à la Maison historique Fairfields. Lors de cet atelier dirigé par Martin Thornell de l’Ottawa City Woodshop, les participants apprendront à choisir les bons outils, à reconnaître le grain du bois, à sculpter la cuiller, le manche et à faire la finition. Cet atelier est l’occasion idéale d’explorer un nouveau passe-temps tout en profitant du décor patrimonial unique. Cette activité s’adresse aux personnes de tous les niveaux. On recommande aux participants d’avoir une certaine aptitude à utiliser des outils manuels, même s’il ne s’agit pas d’un prérequis. Le matériel est inclus dans le coût d’inscription et des rafraîchissements seront servis. *Ce programme est offert en anglais.

- Le terrain du musée comprend un terrain herbeux et inégal.
