Alderleaf Wilderness College is a nature education and wilderness survival school located in Monroe, WA. They offer courses on wilderness survival, permaculture & sustainable living skills, wild edible & medicinal plants, wildlife tracking, and outdoor leadership in the Pacific Northwest. Led by a staff of experienced instructors, our wilderness courses provide you with valuable nature skills.
Jason Knight is the co-founder of Alderleaf Wilderness College and author of the bestselling book, The Essential Skills of Wilderness Survival (available in the Nature Store). He has managed mountain lion studies for the Washington State Department of Fish & Wildlife and assisted with gray wolf research in central Idaho. Jason is one of only a dozen individuals, out of over 4,000 tested wildlife trackers, that has achieved a Senior Tracker Certification in North America (a 100% score on both Track & Sign and Trailing Evaluations administered by CyberTracker International). He has contributed photos to the field guide "Wildlife of the Pacific Northwest" by David Moskowitz and conducted extensive fieldwork for the book "Tracks & Signs of Reptiles & Amphibians" by Filip Tkaczyk. Jason has also worked on dozens of wildlife projects as a biologist at Wetland Resources Inc and was consulted as a local wilderness skills expert for the "Coastal Catastrophe" episode of the Discovery Channel's Dual Survival television program.
