About this Event
Are you new to web design and development, eager to dive into the world of building web applications, and curious about how to go about it? In this hands-on seminar, Professor Hammurabi Mendes, will guide you through the essentials of web development using React. With a focus on learning how the fundamentals of HTML, CSS, and Javascript interplay, by the end of the seminar, you will have the knowledge and confidence to build a simple webpage from scratch, create your own virtual shop using React, and learn important data storage techniques.

How do I know if this course is right for me? Are there any prerequisites?
This seminar is designed for the beginner who feels comfortable using a computer and has some experience seeing code. To feel totally confident in attending the workshop, we recommend you have completed one of the following:
- If you’ve taken an Introductory Programming Course through the College or elsewhere
- Or Look through the following two tutorials from w3schools.com: HTML and CSS
- Or take the free version of this self-paced edX course: HTML5 and CSS Fundamentals

What do I need to bring?
Please bring a charged laptop with you to the session.
Do I need to buy a special computer program or technology?
No. We will be using React which is free and open-source software. Learn more about it here: https://react.dev/
