About this Event
This course offers an overview of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), a holistic healing system with roots in ancient China. Students will explore key concepts such as Qi (life force), Yin and Yang, and the Five Elements, as well as diagnostic techniques like pulse and tongue analysis. The class will cover the use of herbal medicine, acupuncture, dietary therapy, and other practices to restore balance and promote health. Emphasis will be placed on understanding how Chinese medicine works.
Amy Hess (she/they) is a Chinese American acupuncturist and herbalist practicing in Ventura, CA. Amy uses orthopedic acupuncture, constitutional acupuncture, and herbal medicine to address pain and injury as well as systemic health concerns such as digestive, sleep, reproductive, emotional, autoimmune, and chronic conditions. With a background as a full-spectrum doula, Amy is passionate about working with people in the perinatal time through pregnancy, postpartum, termination, and loss. Amy is a doctoral candidate and faculty member at the Academy of Chinese Culture & Health Sciences. A nature lover and former organic/biodynamic farmer, when not in the clinic you’ll find her in the sunshine, the water, or among the plants.
