Button Making Workshop: Introduction to the Death Head & Other Thread Wrapped ButtonsHeld onboard the craft carriage at Ecclesbourne Valley Heritage Railway in Wirksworth, this 3-hour workshop is a wonderful opportunity to learn an 18th Century (if not actually much older) technique for making your own buttons. But more importantly, it's a brilliant way to have some "me" time, relax, socialise with new people, have a good natter and no doubt a good laugh too.
Three hours when you can leave the stresses from the office at the door and give your stress filters a good refresh. Tea, coffee and cake included!
What You'll Learn
Sandrine will introduce you to this over 300-year-old heritage craft, focusing on the Death Head button (named for its distinctive cross pattern) as we explore thread-wrapped buttons. You'll be provided with everything you need on the day and shown the techniques with a few extra tips along the way.
This should fill the 3 hours quite nicely, however if time allows and you wish to, you will have the option to make your buttons into a small display, or a small object like a keyring, bookmark or brooch.
Workshop Details
The workshop is accessible to all abilities as I like to make all my workshops beginner friendly. I will be guiding you through the whole process, you will have the opportunity to join a dedicated WhatsApp group for extra support, and you will have some instructions to take home. It will be held in a small group setting of no more than 12 people.

About the WhatsApp Group
The dedicated WhatsApp group is optional for all the workshops I facilitate. It's there so that I can relay any important info easily, but also so that we can get to know each other before the day, get questions answered quickly and easily. It stays open for a couple of weeks after the workshop has happened, so you can share more of your creations if you like or ask for extra guidance or a refresher if needs be. Please note that this is a hidden group within The Frog in the Craft's Community group.
I will need a minimum of 3 participants to run this workshop.
