About this Event

On this Introduction to Swamp Walk tour participants will board the “Ghost Rider’ tram for an interpretive tour while en-route to the swamp walk location.  Following your 90 minutes introductory swamp walk you will board the tram for the return trip.

The Fakahatchee Preserve is home to protected wildlife and native orchids. The Naturalist Guide for this tour who gained her knowledge thanks to her close association with the Fakahatchee’s Biologist will share her insights and enthusiasm about all the pleasures and wonders a swamp walk has to offer.

Participants will be required to sign a standard release of liability form. Children 12 years and older will be admitted to participate on a case to case basis, please call the Friends office to discuss bringing children on a swamp walk.

Participants are required to stay with the Guide thru the duration of the swamp walk and exit the swamp walk with the Guide. With the exception of an emergency the Guide will not cut the swamp walk short without the agreement of the entire group.

You are required to wear secure, closed toe shoes (no sandals) and long pants. Long sleeve shirts are recommended. You will be able to change in dry clothes at the Parks’ restrooms.

Participants will receive more information with the arrival instructions the day before the tour.

The tram leaves from the ranger station at corner of Janes Scenic Drive and Coastline Drive, Copeland (not Naples).

CAUTION: The ONLY access to Janes Scenic Drive is Via Route 29 between I-75 and US 41. DO NOT rely on GPS or Google Map info which will show other routes that have been closed. If driving I-75 take Exit 80.
