Using a rigid heddle loom is an easy, wonderful way to learn how to weave. In our class, weavers will gain an understanding of how a loom works and learn how to warp looms and weave various patterns. Along the way, we will create sampler/scarf, dish-towels, experimenting with different weaving techniques and observing how texture and color impacts woven threads. Our goal is to have fun and build confidence weaving. During class, we will explore the history of weaving across cultures and review fiber artworks by contemporary weavers worldwide.
Materials provided for this class include the rental of a rigid heddle loom, loom accessories, and an instructor-made bag of equipment for each student's use during the 6-week class. We will also provide information booklets, resources, and ideas.
