Meet the raptors who call Skagit County home. A program for adults and older children.
About this Event

Join Sue Cottrell for an introduction to the 15 diurnal raptor species seen in northwest Washington. She will help you learn the field marks and behaviors to look for when trying to find and identify these birds. Sue has studied birds of prey and guided outdoor trips for more than 35 years, including trapping and banding raptors as a volunteer of the Falcon Research Group, based in Bow, WA. A resident of Skagit and Whatcom County for 45 years, she has vast knowledge of our local raptor populations. She will also share her project of helping to band American Kestrel nestlings as part of her non-profit organization, Raptor Studies Northwest, based in Bow, WA.

Presentation will be from 10-12, Saturday, January 3, 2026. A 2-hour field trip will be offered after the presentation to the first 12 participants that sign up. Please bring binoculars and be prepared to carpool.
