A One-Day Introductory Course on Backyard Astronomy
Open to students in grades 9–12
This intensive course is great for those who don’t have a lot of experience with astronomy but look up at the night sky with wonder. We will explore astronomy and its uses, learn to identify celestial objects, and discover why the night sky changes throughout the year. The evening observation will give students a chance to apply their new skills to navigate the cosmos and includes viewing through our historic telescopes, weather permitting. In case of inclement weather, the evening observation will take place in the planetarium.
Please bring a meal, snacks, and a water bottle, and dress in warm layers for the evening observation. This one-day intensive course includes an outdoor night observation session
