About this Event
In this dynamic, beginners friendly, adult painting art workshop, you'll learn the art of spontaneous, intuitive abstract painting on a small canvas. With a bold colour palette and fast brush movements, we'll embrace the joy of creating without expectations.
But I have to warn you…
This isn’t a typical painting art class in Brighton. This isn’t a “paint by numbers” workshop or “copy how I paint” approach.
In this class we do things differently:
- You will let go of perfectionism by resisting the urge to paint “pretty” or “perfect” or “easy”…. you’ll have a full permission to be free, spontaneous, brave and messy.
- You will discover the intuitive abstract mark-making, texture making and layering process (no artistic experience is necessary).
- You will express yourself with colours, shapes and texture and create a piece of abstract artwork on a small canvas that reflects your innermost feelings.
- Unique opportunity to experiment with different mixed media art materials: acrylic, spray paint, gesso and watercolour paint, pastels, charcoal and other art materials.
Best of all, you'll take home your own one-of the kind abstract artwork on a small canvas and a collection of mini-abstract artworks that can be framed.
This 4 hour introduction to intuitive abstract painting workshop will take place in my private Art studio in Brighton & Hove, Sussex UK, 1 hour from London. This acrylic painting workshop is for adults and teenagers and is perfect for beginners.
What to expect:
- Grounding Circle: We start by getting to know each other, setting intentions and embodiment exercises (breath or meditation) to help you ground, become more present and open to the free-flowing creative state.
- Playful Exploration: Together, we will explore various art materials like acrylics, gesso, charcoal, pastels and my favourite abstract painting techniques by creating a collection of mini-abstracts on paper. All centred around experimentation, expression and letting go (perfect to be framed or used as greeting cards).
- Create your own abstract painting on canvas: express yourself with an intuitive abstract painting on small canvas.
- Meaningful Connection: Bond with other participants over herbal tea and delicious nourishing treats & cake in a friendly and supportive atmosphere. If the weather permits it we will take full advantage of time in the garden.

“A wonderful experience that let me connect to my inner creativity. As someone who has a bit of a block around being artistic and feels sometimes very judgemental of what I create this workshop was a breath of fresh air. It really allowed me to let go and have fun - and for the first time in years (probably since I was a child) feel in flow and totally immersed in creation. Magdalena was a wonderful teacher/ guide and her approach really enabled me to let go of conditioning around how art ‘should’ be done.”
"I thoroughly enjoyed several hours in Magdalena's beautiful studio, completely in flow. I found her to be an encouraging, generous and super patient teacher. She explained various techniques very clearly and has created a safe, nurturing and artistic environment. I left feeling revived, inspired and confident enough to continue practicing what we had learnt at home. Highly recommended!"
