Introduction to Hand Embroidery Workshop / The Loft Atelier Lisbon

In December, we have a Hand Embroidery Workshop happening every Friday in Lisbon.

The schedule will be as the following:

December 9 / Lesson 1(x2hours): Introduction to Hand Embroidery / We will practice the most common stitches and create a sampler

December 16 / Lesson 2(x2hours): Make a Christmas GIFT : Wall Hanging / Learn how to make a wall hanging for your loved ones from beginning to ending the piece or just practice the stitches you learned in Lesson 1 with guidance.

December 23/ Lesson 3(x2hours): Button & Brooch Making / Make a cute embroidered accessory to update your favorite jacket.

December 30 / Lesson 4(x2hours): The Final Project: Implementation on Clothes / Bring a piece of clothing made of non-stretchy fabric, learn the tricks and get to know the tools to bring your knowledge to a new level.

Note: If you previously joined one workshop, you are welcome to join again. This time, we will have bigger table for the attandees that already joined and want to master their skills.

About the event:

Come and spend a lovely inspiring evening learning hand embroidery. Embrace your creativity. Relеаse all your thoughts, let your brain completely relax and allow your intuition to contribute to every string you take.

Through learning the basic hand embroidery techniques you will be able to refresh your old clothes instead of throwing them away or sending them to thrift stores and buying new ones.

- This workshop will be taught in English and is designed for all skill levels - from embroidery beginners to seasonal stitchers. No previous knowledge or skills are necessary!

All materials provided: embroidery hoops, original embroidery patterns, fabrics, needles, threads, embroidery designs.

About the host:

Embroidery artist and founder of Umamade.co, Uma, will run the 2,5-hour session. She re-works unused garments and second hand materials to make art & wearable accessories. She believes that, embroidery is an act of protesting the fast fashion system which creates global social and environmental injustice.
