Introduction to Haiku Poetry Workshop
About this Event
In this hands-on workshop, Irene Gomulka will introduce you to the art of haiku, a Japanese poetic tradition that captures nature, the seasons and everyday experience through simple yet powerful language.
You’ll explore the history and essential elements of haiku, then use what you learn to begin writing poems of your own. No previous poetry experience is needed, just curiosity and a willingness to pay attention.
What We’ll Explore Together
• The origins and traditions of haiku poetry
• How to create vivid meaning with very few words
• The familiar 5–7–5 structure and how it is used
• Kigo: words that evoke a season
• Guided opportunities to write and share your own haiku
This workshop is perfect for poetry beginners, experienced writers looking for fresh inspiration and anyone drawn to creativity, nature, or mindful awareness.
