Introduction to Fashion Design Workshop for Young Teens

Get ready for a week of creativity, inspiration, and hands-on learning!

This workshop is perfect for young teens (ages 12-15) who are curious about fashion design and eager to unleash their creativity in a supportive and fun environment. No prior experience is necessary—just bring your passion for style and enthusiasm for learning!

Day 1: Introduction to Fashion Design:

• Icebreaker activity: Getting to know each other through style.
• What is fashion design? Exploring different aspects of fashion.
• Basics of color theory and its importance in design.
• Designing a simple mood board: Collecting fashion inspiration.

Day 2: Clothing Construction and Sewing:

• Exploring different types of clothing and their purposes.
• Basic sewing techniques: Sewing by hand.
• Creating a small sewing project.

Day 3: Fashion Sketching and Design:

• Introduction to fashion sketching: Proportions and poses.
• Practice sketching basic figures and poses.
• Design challenge: Sketching and planning a simple garment.
• Adding details and accessories to fashion sketches.

Day 4: Textiles and Fabric Exploration:

• Learning about different types of fabrics and their uses.
• Fabric painting. Design and paint your own Tote bag.

Day 5: Upcycling Workshop

• Introduction to upcycling: repurposing old clothes or fabrics to create something new.
• Upcycling project: Bring an old piece of clothes, we will use provided materials to upcycle them into something new.
