This will be a fun and interactive surface embroidery course that is perfect for the first-time embroidered. You will learn how to thread a needle, tie a knot, and stitch three core embroidery stitches constructing your own magpie.
This is the perfect prequel course for Foundations. You will learn tips and techniques you can't get anywhere else!
KIT (REQUIRED):
Required due to set design, the kit comes with fabric with design, needle, and thread.
ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR:
Laura Tandeske has been embroidering for 40+ years specializing in Surface Embroidery. She has studied Fine Arts at California State University, East Bay, and Embroidery with the Embroiderers Guild of America and the San Francisco School of Needlework and Design. Her piece called “Balance” has toured the United States and Canada as part of the 2-year Sixteenth National Exhibit with the Embroiderers Guild of America. This award-winning embroiderer is a frequent instructor at the San Francisco School of Needlework and Design.
MATERIALS TO BRING:
6" or 8" Embroidery Hoop
Scissors
Needle Threader
Anything else that would make you comfortable (a seat cushion, clip-on light, magnifier, thimble, etc.)
Note-taking supplies
All sewing supplies are available at the Museum shop.
The class fee is $38.00, with a $5 kit fee (payable to the instructor).
