Instructor: Angela Mathias of Fiber FateLearn how to spin wool into yarn using a drop spindle. Spindle spinning is a great way to become familiar with the basics of spinning. This class will provide a foundation of knowledge that can be used with any spinning tool. We will cover - wool, twist, spindle, and how-to's.
Already started with a spindle and need additional help? Need a refresher on your basics? Have questions? This class is an opportunity to brush-up or start from scratch.
What to expect: Included with the class, you will receive a spindle kit. Two hours of class time. Information to get you acquainted with wool and putting twist into wool. We will move between presentation, demonstration, and hands-on time. Two hours is enough time to get you started. Most likely, you will be finishing your spin and plying outside of class. I will supply instructions for plying and do a brief demonstration of plying yarn in class.
The spindle kit contains a wooden top whorl drop spindle, a variety of four types of wool (one ounce each), and instructions.
What to bring: Everything you need will be provided
Minimum Age Requirement to Attend: 16+
