Introduction to Dog Health and First Aid
About this Event
🐾 Dog Health & First Aid for Dog Owners 🐾
Would you know what to do if your dog suddenly became sick or injured?
Join us for a 90-minute Introduction to Veterinary Medicine for Dog Owners class designed to help pet owners recognize emergencies, monitor their dog's health, and provide basic first aid until veterinary care is available.
In this hands-on class, you'll learn:
• How to take your dog's temperature
• Normal heart rate, respiratory rate, and vital signs
• How to assess hydration and gum color
• When vomiting, diarrhea, limping, or lethargy require a vet visit
• What to do in common emergencies such as heat stroke, bloat, poisoning, seizures, wounds, and snake bites
• Basic first aid and bandaging techniques
• How to safely transport an injured dog
Each participant will receive a Dog First Aid Kit that includes emergency supplies and a quick-reference health guide to keep at home or in your vehicle.
Knowledge is one of the most valuable tools you can have as a dog owner. While this class is not a substitute for veterinary care, it can help you recognize problems sooner and make informed decisions when your dog needs help.
Perfect for new puppy owners, active dog owners, pet sitters, dog walkers, facility dog handlers, and anyone who wants to be better prepared for the unexpected. This is a dog free event, so please leave your dogs at home!
