Learn the fundamentals of editing and gain a comprehensive understanding of Adobe Premiere Pro's user interface.

COURSE DESCRIPTION:

This course is specifically tailored for students who have limited or no prior experience in editing. Over the course of four sessions, you will be taught various aspects of editing, including navigating the editing interface, importing and organizing media files, establishing an efficient workflow, utilizing tools for trimming, placing, and moving your material, incorporating still images, and applying basic transitions, titles, and effects.

Additionally, you will learn about working with titles and graphics, gain an understanding of the fundamentals of color correction, and finally, exporting and sharing your projects. For practical exercises, you will have access to provided footage to practice and apply your newly acquired skills.

Docs In Progress provides the workstations and the software in our education lab.

Docs In Progress is located on the ground level of the Alexander House. The entrance of Docs In Progress is on Apple Ave. Parking garage, walking distance: Cameron Street Garage. Metro Station Red Line: Silver Spring (walking distance 5-7 minutes).

TEACHING ARTIST​: Brian Terrill

Brian Terrill is an experienced videographer and educator and has taught production and editing classes at Docs In Progress since 2022. He taught editing classes at Fairfax Collegiate for eight years, leading summer and after-school tech classes throughout the Northern Virginia area. In addition, Brian has developed curricula for topics such as Minecraft modding, Raspberry Pi computing, Virtual Reality, and Drones. As a videographer, Brian has primarily covered sports and events in the DC area. He regularly volunteers at Fairfax Public Access Television, where he produces and hosts Count Gauntly’s Horrors from the Public Domain. Brian enjoys helping students develop the technical skills needed to bring their creative visions to life. He is currently pursuing an MFA in Film and Media Production from American University.

REFUND POLICY If your circumstances change and you must withdraw from a class after registering, please be aware of Docs' refund policy:

Withdrawal 30 or more calendar days before the first day of a program: 75% refund.

Withdrawal 11-29 calendar days before the first day of a program: 50% refund

Withdrawal 10 or fewer calendar days before a program: No refund

In case of refund requests, the registrant will incur all Eventbrite fees.
