Introduction to Cyanotype

Join us at the Center for Visual Art for a beginner-level cyanotype class. CVA's Education Manager, Katie Taft, will introduce you to the basics of cyanotype printing, such as how to coat paper or fabric with light-sensitive chemicals and how to expose your designs using sunlight or UV light. We will supply the materials — all you have to bring is your creative mind and an eagerness to learn!
About Cyanotype

Cyanotype is one of the oldest printing processes, once used for architectural and engineering blueprints (hence the name, from its brilliant cyan hue). It is a photosensitive, camera-less printing method that utilizes ultraviolet light to create a "negative" print.
The Intimate Infinite
This workshop is inspired by Tomiko Jones’ solo exhibition, , which provokes questions about the human relationship with the landscape. Through photographic interventions that traverse time and notions of belonging, Tomiko Jones’ work reflects historical modes of artmaking while imbuing a contemporary urgency and relevance. The Intimate Infinite is on view at CVA through March 22. Participants are encouraged to walk through the gallery to view the artwork on display and get inspired.
