Introduction to Canoe Polo - 3 sessions

An introduction to canoe polo over three Monday evenings. This is for people who have some basic kayaking skills and are keen to try a new challenge. We will take you through all the basics, if polo is for you, you can then start coming along to the club's regular sessions.

The kayaks used in polo can be pretty snug, we will need you to demonstrate that you can get out of the kayak by yourself if you capsize.

Who is this course for?

Due to sinurance requirements, you can paddle with Forth Canoe Club 3 times before you join. Membership is £25. If you are not a member, you can join on .

The minimum age for this course is 16 years.

Location: all courses will run from our boathouse, situated on the bank of the Union Canal at the southern end of Harrison Road.

What you should bring with you:

You will need suitable clothing for kayaking (this is weather dependent, but could include a fleece, warm t-shirt/thermal, tracksuit trousers, cagoule/windproof, hat and towel). We encourage you to wear footwear in the kayaks, plimsolls or crocs are ideal or wet-shoes. There are changing rooms & a toilet available during this time. You will probably something to drink and you will defintiely want a complete change of clothes.

The cost of the course is £30.

Information we require

During booking you must fill in a form, about medical info that the coach should know, and emergency contact info etc. We appreciate it takes time to complete the forms but we have a requirement to provide our coaches with up to date information about the students they will be coaching. Many thanks for giving our coaches the information they need.

DATA USAGE

Forth Canoe Club will keep a record of members’ names and addresses and contact details on an EventBrite account accessible to those who need it in the Forth Canoe Club Committee. Your record may be inspected by contacting the Membership Secretary. We are affiliated to the SCA and will pass on your data for insurance and membership statistics use. By signing up this course, you are agreeing for Forth Canoe Club to use your contact data in this way if necessary.
