In this session, you will be introduced to methods for extracting colour from plant-based materials, including food waste as an approach to sustainable making practices.
You will learn how to identify suitable plant matter for colour making and the difference between colour-fast and fugitive colour. You will be introduced to permaculture principles and how these should impact foraging and growing practices for dye plants.
You will learn how to develop plant-based ink for water-based drawing practices and dyeing.
You will be able take your own handmade inks home!
