Have you ever tried photographing birds only to find they’ve flown off before you’re ready? Birds are among the most challenging and rewarding subjects to capture. In this beginner-friendly workshop photographer Sandy Schill will guide you through the essentials to help you succeed.
You’ll learn about camera equipment settings and the principles of composition while also gaining insight into birding ethics the best times of day for shooting and how to create a bird-friendly photography station right in your own backyard. Bring your own phone DSLR mirrorless or even film camera and you’ll leave with practical tips to start capturing the feathered friends you love.

About the Instructor
Sandy Schill has been passionate about photography for more than 16 years honing her skills through workshops conferences and as an active member of the Flagpole Photographers Camera Club in Newtown. While she enjoys portraits still life and landscapes her true passion is bird photography. Sandy’s work has earned numerous local state regional and international awards including the prestigious MNEC distinction from the New England Camera Club Council.
