About this Event
Session Information
This course teaches Python programmers how "neural networks"—computational models inspired by the brain—are structured to predict information from your data.
Audience Level:
You must be comfortable with Python and have experience with data analysis (like using pandas and plotting) at the level of 'Introduction to Data Analysis and Machine Learning in Python' (also a part of Data Week 2026). Understanding basic math concepts like derivatives (calculus) is strongly recommended.
Advanced requirements/set up:
You will need a laptop and a Google account to use Colab https://colab.google/
Intended Learning Outcomes
- Understand how a multi-layer neural network works.
- Get a basic understanding of how computers "learn" through processes called gradient descent and backpropagation.
- Learn the basics of PyTorch, a popular tool for building AI.
