Introduction to Ableton Live and MIDI Production (SF & Online)
About this Event
Want to produce music in Ableton Live but don't know where to start? Take a dive into Ableton Live 12 and the world of MIDI production in our 2 class introductory series, designed to show you everything you need to know to get started making your own music! Taught by engineer/producer Lien Do (Different Fur Studios).
This class will show you why Ableton is the DAW of choice for electronic music production by many professional producers working in audio today. We'll start off by learning the ins and outs of the software: how to set up your session, understanding the arrangement views and navigating your way around the DAW. Then, we will go deeper into recording and producing music in Ableton, including how to program MIDI and work with virtual instruments, sampling, and using MIDI controllers.
Join us in person at the WAM Education Lab in SF, or join us from anywhere in the world via Zoom!
No prior Ableton experience necessary. Students taking the class remotely will need to have access to an Ableton Live 12 license at home. 30 day free trials are available via the Ableton website. For students taking the class in person, we will provide access to Ableton Live 12 at our Education Lab.

Women's Audio Mission courses focus on increasing the gender balance in audio production and technology sectors since less than 5% of the population employed in these sectors are women and gender-diverse individuals. There are limited spots available in our classes, and they often sell out, so we ask that if you are not woman-identified (cisgender or transgender), nonbinary, or gender-expansive, you reconsider enrolling in the class. We will not turn anyone away, but please be mindful that if you take up a seat in the class, that is one less woman, non-binary, or gender-expansive individual that we can serve. We thank you for your understanding in advance and for joining us in our mission to advance women and girls in music production and the recording arts.
