Hatha yoga is one of the oldest style of yoga and HATHA can litely mean “forceful” but it also relates to the sanskrit words “ha” meaning Sun and “tha” meaning moon. The Sun and Moon practice refers to the ability to balance all the dualitis with our being.
In Hatha yoga class we practice asanas (postures), pranayama (yogic breathing), mudras (yoga of the hands or hand gestures), and meditation. Hatha is usually a slower pace of yoga focusing on breathing, alignment, and holding the poses for a few breaths to build focus, stamina and strength.
Clara strives to help each student to find their path, balancing their weaknesses and their strengths without feeling overwhelmed with the idea of what a pose should look like but rather feel the pose and find a balance between easeness and struggle, and allow themselves to have fun while learning and practicing yoga. Like in many things we do in life, yoga requires some practice and patience as we learn about ourselves and our bodies, until everything comes to union and we finally can feel at ease with our bodies and mind and we feel a sense of balance and happiness.
Clara has been teaching many styles of fitness and sports, from beginners to advanced athletes, for over 30 years and have been teaching yoga for 15 years. She also specializes in sports injury, pre and post surgery rehab and is a cancer exercise specialist. She teaches Strengthening Hatha Yoga & Core Balance Yoga at Embrace.
