Intro to Wax Resist & Glazing - Saturday Workshop Series

This two-day workshop will allow you to hand-build a few (2-4) functional pieces on the first day, then create designs with wax on the second day. We will have several glaze options to choose from.

• Day One: November 1st- hand-building functional pieces
• Day Two: November 8th - Create wax resist designs and glaze pieces.
• Materials, including clay, wax, coloured glazes, and tools, will be provided.
• We will fire the pieces at the end of September (Expect to pick up your creations sometime in November).

Wax-resist pottery is a technique where wax is used to create patterns on a ceramic piece before it is glazed. The wax repels the glaze, leaving the waxed areas unglazed after firing, creating a design. This method allows for intricate designs and prevents glaze from adhering to the bottom of the piece, preventing it from sticking to the kiln shelf.
