Intro to the Sewing Machine

Welcome to Intro to the Sewing Machine!

Have you always wanted to learn how to use your sewing machine? So many of us have grand plans to get into a new hobby and end up frustrated or feeling like you just don’t know where to start. If this sounds familiar, this is the perfect beginner class for you.

During this class, you’ll learn the proper names for all the machine parts that will help you understand sewing instructions and tutorials in the future. You’ll learn how to thread a machine, wind a bobbin and then we’ll jump right in and begin sewing. After honing your skills with practice fabric, you’ll be guided step by step through the process of sewing your first project, a canvas tote bag with nylon web handles.

All fabric and thread is provided. You must provide your own sewing machine and basic sewing tools. Upon registration we will provide a list/link to the necessary tools should you not already have them.

This class is limited to students who are age 15 and older, there are other classes/camps available for those younger. We can also offer private group or individual lessons (email [email protected] if you do not see any currently offered).
