NEW START DATE! November 9th! Learn improv at our award winning training center. CCT’s famed training center has taught people of all walks of life the art of comedy.This class will be taught by Chicago Comedy scene veteran Stuart Ranson. In this class, we will take the guidelines and tenets of improvisation, and, using them in conjunction with storytelling techniques, write scenes, songs, and sketches that emphasize the creator's point-of-view. The collaborative aspects of improvisation are emphasized, as the class works both individually and as a team to create content.
Structures covered include:
• Fish Out of Water
• Clothesline
• Center/Eccentrics
• Style/Genre Scenes
• Blackouts
With a combination of experiential and individual work, creators are empowered to simultaneously build their writing portfolio and advance their comedic acting skills in a nurturing ensemble.
CLASS INFO: 6-week sessions meet every Tuesday from 6:30-9pm EDT. Class starts 11/2 and ends 12/7.
The total 6 week class cost is $250. A Deposit of $50 reserves your spot in class. The balance of $200 is due the first night in via Venmo @Keli-Semelsberger

About your instructor:
Stuart Ranson has been performing, writing, and teaching improv and sketch comedy since 1997. He completed the training programs of The Second City, Annoyance Theater, and Improv Olympic. In addition to performing with The Second City National Touring Company, and being a founding member of internationally renowned music improv troupe Baby Wants Candy, Stuart has also performed in New York with the Magnet Theater and the People’s Improv Theater. As a faculty member of The Second City Training Center, he has taught improv from the beginning to conservatory levels, sketch writing, storytelling, music improv, and youth/teen courses.
