Intro to Podcasting: The Podcast! - 2 Day Workshop

Two Thursdays: September 24th, and October 1st, 12:30PM- 1:30PM

Join us for a hands-on, two-part podcasting workshop where you'll develop a podcast idea, plan an episode, and get behind the mic to record it! Limited to just 8 participants so everyone gets plenty of hands-on experience.

Beginner-friendly workshop for adults & teens 16+

Come with an idea you'd love to explore, or we'll help you develop one during the workshop. This is designed to be a fun, low-pressure way to learn the process by actually making a podcast.

Space is limited to 8 participants.

$50 BevCam Members / $70 Nonmembers

Please note: This is a video podcast. By participating in the recording portion, you'll be on camera, and your episode may air on BevCam's cable channels, YouTube, and podcast platforms. So come ready to share your voice! 🙂

About Amanda — Local Podcast Producer/Host and BevCam Education Manager

Amanda Hurley is the Education Manager at BevCam, where she focuses on educational programming for youth and adults and supporting podcast production. She is also the creator and host of her personal podcast, I Brought You Into This World, and the host of BevCam’s youth podcast, BevCam Kids! (Please reach out if your kids are interested!)

Amanda is a storyteller at heart, with a BA in Dramatic Arts and a background working with kids. In 2020, while looking to make a career shift, she completed a certificate program in Broadcast Media and soon found herself working as an Education Coordinator at Urban Media Arts. She stayed in that role for three years, enjoying the mix of community engagement and creative work.

Shortly after moving to Beverly, Amanda joined BevCam and has loved getting to be part of the arts and culture community here. When she’s not working, her favorite activities are binge-watching her favorite shows, listening to podcasts, exploring local parks and trails, and hanging out with her husband and their two girls. Her go-to podcast at the moment is Good Hang with Amy Poehler.

We'll start with the basics of podcasting—from developing your concept and audience to choosing a format and brainstorming episode ideas.
You'll get a look at BevCam's real podcast planning and episode forms, then we'll break into pairs to develop and plan a 10-minute podcast episode to record during Day 2. You'll work together on your topic, structure, questions, and hosting roles so you're ready to hit the studio!
Day 2: Get on the Mic!
Time to record! We'll head into BevCam's video podcast studio for a hands-on introduction to the equipment, microphones, and recording process.
Together, our group will create four 10-minute video podcast episodes. Everyone will get on the mic twice—once as a host and once as a guest—so you'll get to experience podcasting from both sides of the conversation.
We'll also touch on what comes next, including editing, publishing, promotion, and how you can continue developing and producing your own podcast at BevCam.
