Intro to Pandas

This course is for researchers to learn about using Python for basic data analysis and visualization. We will focus on use of data frame structures provided by the Pandas library and data visualization with Seaborn.

By the end of this training, participants will be able to:

• Be able to import data into dataframes
• Filter and clean datasets
• Create filtered subsets of data
• Join data from different sources
• Generate summary statistics from dataframes
• Visualize data from dataframes

This free workshop is available to staff and students at The University of Melbourne and its affiliated institutes.

You must register for this event using an affiliated institutional email address or your registration may be cancelled.

Exercises are designed for students with a basic level of python knowledge OR an intermediate level of experience with R data frames. This is an in person hands-on workshop and attendees must bring their own computers (laptop chargers also recommended). Wifi access to internet via UniWireless or Eduroam and a Web browser (Firefox or Chrome recommended)is required.
