Learn all about the wonderful world of nature journaling in this introductory workshop. No artistic skills required.
About this Event

Learn to draw inspiration from nature to document your thoughts, feelings and observations in your very own nature journal. Recognised as a form of mindfulness, nature journaling can help overcome eco-anxiety by fully connecting with the outdoors, as well as contributing to scientific research! A great opportunity to spend some time with other young people.

The session will take place at the Ramsey Heights Nature Reserve, and will be led by our Great Fen Trainees.

Although the session will run from 10:00 am - 1:30pm, we welcome anyone who wishes to stay behind to continue journaling and exploring as staff will be on site until 4:00 pm.

An introductory workshop aimed at young people (13-25), designed to be attended independently. For under 18's, we will send you a parental consent form to complete and return in advance of the session.

Ticket options include an A5 sketchbook.

Please ensure you read the 'what to bring' section. A clipboard will be provided for each participant, along with floor mats to sit on. We will also provide some art supplies (but please bring any materials you like that are functional/easy to carry around) and some binoculars.

What to bring:

Please wear or bring the following according to the weather. Summer: waterproof coat, long trousers and sleeves, sun hat, suncream and insect repellent. In the winter: warm waterproof coat, layers of warm clothing, hats, thick socks and gloves.

Please either bring a sketchbook/notebook, if you have one you’d like to use. Alternatively tickets including A5 sketchbooks are available - please select a ticket with a sketchbook, if you need one. You can bring your own art supplies: pencil, pen, and any easily portable materials you might like to use (e.g. coloured pencils, watercolour etc., but consider how easy they are to carry around and use outside); binoculars may be useful.

We will also have a lunch break so please bring lunch or a snack.

Refreshments:

Refreshments will be provided. Please bring a re-useable bottle pre-filled with water, or a flask. Please be aware all litter/recycling will need to be taken home with you.

Photographs:

A photographer may be present at the event and taking pictures for Wildlife Trust BCN use so please let us know if you'd rather not be included. For children under 18, an adult will be asked to sign a media consent form.
