Meditation and mindfulness have been around for a few thousand years in different religions and traditions. In this class, we will touch on the core philosophy of what the Buddha taught nearly 2,600 years ago and how his teachings have become what Zen is today - a way of opening the heart to great wisdom and compassion. You will learn skills for sitting and walking meditation including optimal posture and what to do with your wandering mind, and will have the opportunity to try these out. We supply cushions, benches, and chairs.
All are welcome regardless of experience or religious affiliation.
This class will be held at River Market conference room, 221 Main St., N., Stillwater unless otherwise specified.
Instructor: Rev. Laura Phillips of Zen Bridge Community
Cost: $5/free for co-op owners
You can register for any of the classes on River Market website: http://www.rivermarket.coop/news/classes/
